The competition is fierce, especially in highly populated areas like the Bay Area where people are coming in from across the globe to reap the benefits of the technology and life sciences boom. In short, if you are looking for a job, get with the right strategy and NETWORK, NETWORK, NETWORK!!! 

 It is a numbers game and he need to get in front of people. Relying on technology to get an interview is an inadequate use of your time, esp. since the quantity of resumes received is large and the ATS systems are inconsistent at best in terms of standards required. 

And if you think that a hiring manager actually reads all the resumes submitted, think again. They do not have the time or resources to do so. Sorry to tell you, but doing a job search takes considerable effort. 

Make the effort and you will reap the rewards. Don't be on the outside looking in...
