Contacting Recruiters on LinkedIn

Before you contact a recruiter on LinkedIn, do a little research.  Do not ask "What openings do you have?"  You will get  no reply.  These folks get so many requests from people who are not working within their specialty that they are not going to answer random, thoughtless questions.  And remember, they are under no obligation to answer - they work for someone else, not you.
