Recruiters - Scams / Unethical Behavior

Recruiters - Scams / Unethical Behavior

To begin, most recruiters are "on the level". Not every recruiter is a scammer (if you read LinkedIn, it seems like all are playing games. However, recruiters do work for someone else and that person is not the job seeker. This is an important perspective to keep in the forefront of your mind.

If a recruiter is evasive when asked about the job in question, that is the first sign of unethical behavior. Recruiters should always be knowledgeable about the job they're recommending. If they seem vague, skirt around questions regarding the hiring process, or gloss over the finer details - this should set off alarm bells.

Please understand that there are instances where legitimate recruiters have confidential positions and are unable to reveal the client's name. Nevertheless, they should still possess industry knowledge and be able to provide as much information as possible about the role.
