More professionals are ditching their traditional 9-to-5 roles for contract, freelance and self-employed positions than they were last year, according to new LinkedIn data. Experts say the shift has a couple of main drivers, including: a crowded job market, economic pressure and a growing desire for flexibility and autonomy. Regardless of the reason, these pivots are fueling rapid change. The global gig economy is currently valued at $647 billion and is projected to top $2 trillion by 2033.
