Job Market Information - Tech Layoffs

What makes Apple different from Microsoft, Meta, Salesforce, Alphabet, Amazon and other tech firms that have laid other by the thousands? Well, it is pretty simple, "less fat".

All the other companies got too fat as a result of overhiring (esp. during the pandemic), offering employees an abundance of perks (free lunch) and a business model that supports sustained growth (i.e. 40% of the company works in 500+ retail stores). In fact, Apple last big round of layoffs was in 1997, when Steve Jobs deemed the company to be too fat upon his return and laid off 4.1K+ workers.

Companies that have had to handle large layoffs have done so because they over-hired based on special projects that have under-performed, have a slower go-to-market process or were just plain unsuccessful.
