1. Use the right keywords (all you have to do is read the job description/ posting

2. List your skills and competencies in special section (Areas of Expertise; Core Competencies; Signature Strengths)

3. Stick to the standard resume headings (Career History; Education)

4. Use bullet points

5. Avoid acronyms and abbreviations (spell out the name of the organization or degree at least 1x (ex - American Medical Association (AMA)

6. Stick to sans-serif fonts (Arial, Verdana)

7. Avoid graphics, tables and special characters
