Job Market News - Aug 5

 Job Market News:

Recent gains by historically disadvantaged groups could be in jeopardy as the labor market shows signs of cooling, according to The Wall Street Journal. The years since the pandemic have seen surging employment and productivity, as well as improvements in wage inequality. However, hiring was unexpectedly weak in July, with the U.S. economy adding only 114,000 jobs. That's raised concern that Federal Reserve efforts to manage inflation may have gone too far, and a slowing economy might jeopardize progress for Black Americans and women with young children, in particular, per The Journal.
