February Hiring Numbers:
The U.S. economy added fewer-than-expected jobs in February as federal hiring slowed.
Nonfarm payrolls rose by 151,000 last month, the Bureau for Labor Statistics reported Friday, after a revised increase of 125,000 in January amid severe winter weather and wildfires.
The data doesn’t yet reflect cuts to government jobs announced in recent days.
The unemployment rate ticked up to 4.1% from 4%, still below the pre-pandemic average.
