When you are attending an industry / networking function, NEVER announce that you are looking for a new position.  Make the necessary introductions, secure the contact information from those people that you are specifically interested in connecting with and follow-up accordingly.  It is unprofessional to announce that you are seeking new opportunities on your present company's time.
