There is nothing worse than listening to someone state a problem without offering a solution. To me, this is a colossal waste of time.
Now, taking this scenario to an interview, weave into the conversation 2+ situations where you were able to present the business case for a problem, offering one (or more) potential remedies that are viable as well as the benefits (i.e. increase in gross margins, additional revenue stream, improved logistics).
There is nothing that impresses an interviewer more than your demonstrated ability to show value to your employer.
