Informational Interview Questions
Here are six questions you might consider when seeking advice through an informational interview (not an interview for an actual position but an interview that is only informational in scope and can be viewed as a networking opportunity:)
Mirror the Job Description: AI systems scan for keywords. Use the exact terminology, buzzwords, and technical skills found in the job posting to ensure the algorithm recognizes your relevance.
Practice Your AI Interview
Despite the ridiculous of the AI driven interview that many companies, in their 100% stupidity (technology is great but in this case, the utilization of AI-driven technology in the interview process will lead to inefficiencies in the process, bad hires (a costly mistake) and a disfranchised population of commoditized staff members), you still must prepare for the meeting with your robot. Alas, you can prepare for this "interview" with new "tools", AI-powered platforms like Big Interview or InterviewAI for mock interviews and feedback.
For that dreaded AI Interview, keep the following top of mind:
AI analyzes responses for keywords, consistency, confidence, empathy, and sometimes even facial expressions or word choice, providing scores on communication and integrity. Therefore, re-read the job description and "speak" in their language during the interview.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Interview Tip #1:
I cannot believe this has become part of the process. However, we cannot change it so here is a bit of advice about how to adapt to this crazy, ridiculous new reality.
Tip #1
Be Concise and Direct: AI may struggle with nuance, so clear, direct, and structured answers are best.

Interview Preparation -
While it is a given that you learn about the company, the market it serves, the duties of the opportunity, etc., it is equally as important to be prepared to offer solid examples of your success stories. If the interviewer asks about your experience selling to C-Level executives, do not answer " I have sold to CEOs, CFOs, CIOs, CMOs and CTOs for five (5) years." You should reply: I have managed the sales cycle involved the C-Suite, pitching new products / services, always in highly competitive marketplaces. I always demonstrate the strengths of my product / service offering, accentuating why our organization is poised to address questions / problems / concerns while always being proactive with customer success initiatives, client training and information about new add-ons and new products in the pipeline. See the difference???
Do you know the interviewer?
Probably not. However, that means that you need to do some research about the interviewer. Use LinkedIn to read about the interviewer in terms of:
Career Path
Education
Affiliations / Professional Organizations
Achievements
A quick Google search will provide additional information for you. This information will help you better understand the interviewer, the company as well as potential career paths for you, esp. if the interviewer is in your field (not a recruiter).
