Last Week, Alison Green from US News and World Report wrote an article about how job seekers can identify future bosses that they may not be a suitable match with in both the short- and long term. Her article triggered this blog submission.
Let's face it, working for others is not easy, especially as we become more experienced in our careers. When seeking a new position, we need to be honest with ourselves and identify what characteristics we need from a boss and how our styles and personalities would mesh with those of a boss who may be:
1. Have a hands-off management style
2. Younger than you are
3. From an established corporate background
4. Start-up experience only
5. New to managerial positions
6. Demanding of your time on weekends or evenings
7. Requires extensive documentation
The list is long but I hope you get the picture. I will write more about this issue in the coming days.
