Job Title Definition - Media Buyer / Programmatic Buyer / Trader

A media buyer purchases advertising space in print, outdoor, broadcast, and online outlets, such as magazines, billboards, radio stations, television stations, and websites. They may work for advertising agencies or individual companies. Excellent communication skills are vital in this profession, as well as business knowledge. They watch various media channels, assess how advertisements are performing on different platforms and media channels.

As the media buying discipline has become more about digital advertising and programmatic buying, the Social + Programmatic Media Buyer / Trader is primarily responsible for developing, implementing, and managing online advertising campaigns through various display, social, video and native marketing channels. They will set KPIs and execute plans that meet and exceed these goals.

Educational requirements vary with the employer, but many jobs call for a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
