ATS - Not just in the United States...
ATS software tools are used worldwide for the same reasons it is used in the United States:
1. Automate the resume evaluation process
2. Disqualify unqualified candidates
3. Provides the employer with improved protocols for organizing candidate information
4. Improved internal collaboration on a candidate's qualification
5. Better compliance to federal regulations as well as internal DEI initiatives
However, there are issues:
1. Most resumes in Europe and Middle East have pictures. Most ATS cannot scan resumes with pictures, let along graphs, charts, logos, tables, multi-column formats. These elements block the scanners
2. Most ATS programs are filled with bugs
3. Since most candidates are not well-versed in ATS resumes, good candidates fall out of contention, an event that is minimized by manual screening.
I will be dedicating the next 10 posts to ATS. Obviously, I feel this is the #1 issue in the market. Stay tuned.
