Job Definition Title - Sales Development Representative

For the near future, I will be posting 2x day. The morning post will be job search related advice, the lunch time (PT) will be about job titles and definitions. Sounds boring, it is. But I will tell you that job titles are important and it is a difference maker in terms of pay, upward mobility, authority, prestige and more.

All of you need to be aware of what a job title truly means.


Sales Development Representative (SDR)


Sales development representatives (SDRs) are responsible for outbound sales prospecting. Also known as Inside Sales Representatives (ISR). Rather than trying to close deals, their work revolves around generating and qualifying new leads—and moving them through the sales pipeline, until they’re ready to talk to your account executives and other sales “closers.” This two-step system enables your sales reps and account executives to focus on closing deals, rather than finding new leads, getting past gatekeepers, and other prospecting-related tasks.

Educational requirements vary with the employer, but many jobs call for an associates degree or higher
