Job Title Definitions

For the near future, I will be posting 2x day.  The morning post will be job search related advice, the lunch time (PT) will be about job titles and definitions. Sounds boring, it is. But I will tell you that job titles are important and it is a difference maker in terms of pay, upward mobility, authority, prestige and more.  

 

All of you need to be aware of what a job title truly means.

 

Product Designer

A product designer is responsible for the design and development of consumer products. responsibilities include defining product specifications, creating digital or print drawings and designing fully-functional products. To be successful in this role, you should have an eye for color and shape and be able to translate requirements into practical product features.

 Educational requirements vary with the employer but all job posting that I have seen are looking for a Bachelors’ at the minimum along with exposure to CAD technologies.  Experience with project management is also desirable.
